I am obsessed with stencils! I draw them, cut them by hand sometimes (for temporary designs) but usually they get cut by machine. There are many available right now and I started with a Silhouette Cameo a few years ago.

Having your own cutter gives you so much freedom, especially these days where it is so easy to get a design into the cutter. My friend has a Cricut and although she’s not to most tech-savvie she has absolutely no problems using it.

I have often thought about all the things I do with stencils. Many years ago I cut all my stencils and masks by hand, I mainly used them for enamelling, etching and roller printing jewellery, now I find myself having scaled up to larger work and trying them on lots of materials I had not used in my art before.
